Seth Rogovoy Bob Dylan: Prophet, Mystic, Jew Seth Rogovoy will offer a sneak preview of his upcoming book, Bob Dylan: Prophet, Mystic, Jew in a multimedia presentation that illuminates the Jewish influence of Bob Dylans life, career and music. A close examination of his songs reveals Dylan has a deep and profound knowledge of the Bible, Talmud and Kabbalah and his overall career is best appreciated when seen in the context of the Jewish prophetic tradition, which in large part accounts for his enduring popularity and apppeal. _______________________________________________________
Talmudic Insights with Kaya Stern-Kaufman July 29 and August 5, Wednsday Mornings Talumidic Insights on Human Dignity is a two-part series exploring Talmudic texts that address the issues of Human dignity and respect as value concepts, specifically looking at the needs of the bride, the needs of the mourner, and honoring our neighbors and teachers. Tuesday, August 18, 7:30 PM -- Professor Jeremy Yudkin, Boris and Bessie Thomashefsky Tanglewood Program Discussion Professor Jeremy Yudkin will discuss The Thomashefsky program appearing at Tanglewood on August 19 and 20. At Tanglewood, Micheal Tilson Thomas will share the stage with an orchestra and four singers to bring to life the story of Boris and Bessie Thomashefky, Michael's grandparents, who emigrated to the United States from Eastern Europe in the 1880's and played major roles in the development of American Yiddish Theater _________________________________________________________________
23rd ANNUAL BERKSHIRE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL
The 23rd Annual Berkshire Jewish Film Festival will be presented on Mondays in the Duffin Theater at Lenox Memorial High School, 197 East Street in Lenox. All seating is general admission, $10 evenings and $5 matinees. Season tickets are $75.
