On December 7, Congregation Knesset Israel celebrates Hanukkah together with Shirei Shabbat. The illumination of Hanukkah candles plus the two Shabbat candles will brighten the festive multigenerational gathering! Visitors are welcome!
The Shirei Shabbat service begins at 5:30 pm. Musical instruments and the up-tempo rhythms after the school and work week will resonate with the blended voices. Several of our student musicians will be supplementing the usual band of four or five. Talented youngsters from the elementary level through high school enjoy the opportunity to “jam” Jewishly.
After the service (at 6:30 pm), a holiday dinner will include brisket and latkes, a Knesset Israel tradition lovingly prepared by a team of voluntary chefs.
Be sure to make reservations for the dinner—if you don’t want the latke supply to disappear before you get to the buffet table! The cost per adult is $20, teens are $ 15 and 12-and-under are free.
